Until 1998, the Metro Youth
Council was an organization working in the former Metropolitan Toronto
region to empower youth to act ontheir issues through education,
activism, and peer support. Until 1998, the Ontario Coalition for
Children and Youth was a provincial organization working to equip
young people with the skills they need to act on issues of concern
for them and their communities. In 1998, the two organisations joined
together, creating a new space for young people across Ontario to
share information, network, and mobilise around issues of concern
to youth.
The Ontario Young
Peoples Alliance is a children and youth driven organisation creating
a learning inclusive culture that mobilises young people to help
themselves and each other. Through resource-sharing, networking,
and facilitating community-implemented programs, we actively participate
in the healthy development of our communities locally, regionally,
and provincially throughout Ontario. We want to build and facilitate
and powerful, proactive and informed peoples awareness, understanding,
and participation in all decision-making processes, especially those
that affect our lives.
